Adrian Shelton has established a reputation for excellence in identification and analysis of research compliance challenges and in generation of practical administrative responses appropriate to the institution's own context. She was the founding Research Compliance Officer for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, serving in that capacity from February 2001 through June 2007. She created UNC's Research Compliance Program, identifying unaddressed issues and consolidating a large array of research compliance-related activities into a coordinated institutional compliance program operating as an integral and supportive component of the university's research enterprise.
Prior to that position she served as Principal Analyst in business contracting at the University of California at Davis, advising faculty and staff on specialized business structures and relationships that would meet their business objectives consistent with the academic mission, and following through with drafting, negotiating and managing business contracts and educational affiliation agreements on behalf of the campus and the health care system.
Ms. Shelton has a reputation for her analytical and communication skills coupled with exceptional ability to generate positive and operationally productive collaboration with faculty, staff and administrators at all levels.
